Daily Beauties...

Today's Daily Beauty is.....Eva Longoria-Parker! Even though I hate her because my boyfriend is obsessed with her (jealous aren't I? lol!) I still have to admit that she's very attractive and has come a LOOONNGGG way from her 'Less than glamorous pre-fame and Tony days' ;)

Giorgio Armani Code Sheer

Hey girls! Tired of that heavy perfume you've been spritzing all winter? Well I just got the new Armani Code Sheer and it's DELISH! It's still just as sexy as it's predecessor Armani Code but with a new light, sheer scent that's perfect for summer and warm weather. It'd def a little lighter on the musk and is infused with orange blossoms, honey, jasmine, and lily. It's sweet, soft and sophisticated. A perfect scent that should be put in your daily rotation soon!

Daily Beauties...

Audrina Patridge is today's Daily Beauty! She attended the MTV 2008 Movie Awards with this FAB new hairstyle! I looove the bangs! The blunt bangs look amazing on her. For the event she did her signature makeup look which is heavy eyeliner and a smoky eye with a nude lip and some bronzer! LOVES IT! Her teeth are like insanely white...I just started using the Crest Healthy Radiance set that comes with a toothpaste to help build enamel and protect teeth from cavities and tartar buildup then you do the deep cleaning white strips once a week....so I'll post in a week or two to show you if I have 'Audrina teeth' or not! lol!

In Loving Memory Of Yves Saint Laurent

So sad to hear of the passing of YSL. He passed away at the age of 71 in his Paris apartment. It's a big loss to the fashion and beauty world. He created the sophisticated and sexy pantsuit for women. His beauty line was just as creative and FAB. I myself have spent many hours perusing the YSL counter. Rest in peace.

Daily Beauties...

Who's the Daily Beauty today you may ask? MEGAN FOX! I mean lets be honest here...does it get any prettier than her? I don' think so! She has to be one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. So many people compare her to Angelina...but to me she's hotter! I hope to see her in some new movies soon. I don't believe she's been in anything since "Transformers". Can't wait!

How To Spend Bush's Money

While some people are using the $600 that Bush is so generously giving us (yeah right!)to pay off some high interest credit cards (as I will!) there are still many other people that are spending their days dreaming about what purchases they'll be making so today I'm going to make the decision process a little bit easier for you! Here are some things that are FAB and I think you should buy with that new found wealth! ;)

1.) Buy some William Rast Jeans! I love and adore JT and his denim line is no different! I first saw the "Savoy" jean on Jessica Simpson. She was wearing them like everyday for a couple of months. I know because in all my weekly gossip mags they always had a picture (or multiple) of her in them...and believe me if I owned them I'd be wearing them too! They retail for about $233 and even though I've been dying for them I couldn't bring myself to pay that amount for denim. But now that I'm $600 richer (for the moment) I wouldn't mind....

2.) Get a facial or body treatment! My FAV spa is Bliss they not only has awesome beauty products for skin, body and bath but they also serve up some extra awesome spa treatments. If you want a facial and you want the whole enchilada I'd suggest the "Steep Clean" ($280) not only is the facial amazing but the "Steep Clean" line of products to take home are equally great. The facial includes microdermabrasion, an oxygen wrap, deep pore purging, massage, arnica based calming mask, and finally a targeted task mask. If you want a body treatment I'd go with
the "Love Handler"($130) this will get your abs (or lack there of) in tip top shape in no time!

3.) Buy a Clarisonic Skincare Brush ($195) this thing is a GOD! I never realized how much brushing your face wash on your face can help! (lol) It tightens the pores but not before completely cleaning them out. It also gets rid of dirt, oil, and makeup from your face that your fingertips just aren't getting. Plus it helps the ingredients in your face wash get deeper into your skin so it works better and if you don't have, don't fret, because it comes with a face cleanser! If you buy the limited time Pink one proceeds from the sale will go to Breast cancer awareness and research so you'll be doing a good deed for other women! But if your still itching to do more good then you can.....

4.) Donate to one of myFAV charities March of Dimes "March for Babies" it's dedicated to helping keep babies healthy, preventing premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality. If your interested you can donate ANY amount you wish even if it's $1! You can donate on my personal page here Thanks!

Daily Beauties...

Today Miranda Kerr is my Daily Beauty! How stunning is she!? I saw an interview of her on the CW 11 morning news. She was promoting a new bra Victoria's Secret was launching and her Australian accent is TO DIE!!! It has to be the cutest thing I've ever heard! At my job the IT help line is outsourced in Australia so whenever I have a technical issue I'm always happy to call because I get to listen to their accent! Like when you hang up and say 'goodbye' they say 'cheers'! Ha! I love it! ANYWAYS Miranda is super beautiful it's almost unfair plus she's dating Orlando Bloom....ugh...so lucky!

In The Metro Newspaper!

Ms. Makeup Maven herself was featured today in the Metro Newspaper! I had submitted a 400 word essay called "When Youth Comes At A Hefty Price" but they shortened it ridiculously to only 1 paragraph! BUT I'm not complaining...at least my name is spelled correctly!
Check it out here

Here's is the FULL essay! Enjoy!
When Youth Comes At A Hefty Price

In today's society the quest to look younger than you did at 21 has many Americans paying thousands of dollars, risking their health and even toying with death. At some point you have to ask yourself, how far are you willing to go? Unfortunately for many women they'll go to great lengths to look like they did 20 years ago. Recently for an article I interviewed my sister who is approaching age 30. I asked her about her opinions on aging and whether she would consider Botox, Juvederm, or Restylane injections now or in the future to rid her already gorgeous face of fine lines and wrinkles and she abruptly answered " No" and I don't blame her! In the past 10 years alone Botox has been responsible for 16 deaths. Not including nearly 200 patients experiencing "serious complications" including: slurred speech, problems swallowing, problems breathing, problems holding up one's head, and muscle weakness.
This year Botox was implicated in the deaths of four children. Botox is used on children when neurological disorders are present, such as Cerebral Palsy. They are supposed to help the child gain normal movement by weakening stronger muscles and strengthening weaker ones by making the stronger contracting muscles to relax. After the Botox injections the child works with a physical therapist to help develop the weaker muscles. Unfortunately in the case of these 4 children it never worked out that way. What concerns me most is that something that is advertised to help make you look younger and more beautiful is now being used to help children with disabilities and I'm not so sure it should be used for either! Who would have thought that something can decrease wrinkles and excessive sweating while helping children with disorders. It sounds like a dream come true but the death toll tells a different story.
In 2003 Priscilla Presley was introduced to Dr. Daniel Serrano by Diane Richie (Lionel's ex wife) He injected her with industrial grade silicone that he smuggled from Argentina to the U.S. he claimed it was "better than Botox" apparently it wasn't because after the botched procedure her face was left partially deformed. Some of the other women that 'Dr. Jiffy Lube' got his hands on were left in worse situations some reporting holes in their faces, lumps in their lips and even paralysis. To all of this I shake my head and wonder…was it really all worth it?

Daily Beauties...

Today's Daily Beauty is Whitney Thompson...She just won "America's Next Top Model" and I believe she's the first plus sized (She's only a 10!) model to win. She's drop dead gorgeous I mean I was watching an episode over the weekend and I just couldn't take my eyes off of her because she was sooo pretty and it absolutely depresses me that a size 10 is plus size!!! What is this world coming to!!?? Anywho...I hope she does well and congrats to her! You ever notice that once they "win" the competition you like never see them again? Like what happened to Naima, Eva, Yoanna, Nicole, Jaslene, CariDee etc. ? Like after the initial media blitz you really never see them in magazines or anything...strange... ;)

Lip Service

Confession: I have been keeping a product from you! It's sooo good I didn't want to share! But I'm apologizing now AND spilling the beans. Forgive me? Good glad we got that cleared up. Product in question: Be Fine Food Skin Care Lip Serum with Chamomile & Beets! I've been using it religiously for weeks now! At times I wear it alone or when I'm out I layer it underneath my NARS Lip Gloss and it looks great because the Lip Serum is clear. The the mere fact that it "Looks good" doesn't even come close to the fact that it WORKS GOOD! Great actually. It has softened my once dry lips and kept them soft. Before my lips were so fragile that the minute I took off my chap stick my lips dried out. I always had to have SOMETHING on my lips but now they actually retain their moisture whether I have gloss on or not. It has "Palm peptides in it to help plump up and tighten skin around the lips" and it helps protect your lips against harmful UVA rays. Chamomile oil helps regenerate tissue and strengthen skin around the lips for a fuller tighter look. Results: Angelina Jolie-esqe lips! Check mine out! There's no weird smell or awful taste and it's not super sticky it has a nice texture that stays on long. Plus it comes in a cute tube to throw in your makeup bag or purse or BOTH! LOVES IT!

Memorial Day Weekend Beauty

Hello Beauties! I simply cannot wait for this long holiday weekend coming up! It couldn't have come sooner! But with Memorial Day comes BBQ's, pool parties, and other outdoor festivities which can lead to sunburn, sweating, oily and dry skin and parched hair. So I've come up with a team of no-fail beauty products to help you survive this holiday weekend!!!

First things first wash your face with a good oil free face wash. I use Derma Doctor "Aint Misbehavin" or Murad Clarifying Cleanser is also great at killing bacteria on skin and sopping up excess oil.

Now when you wash your hair try using John Frieda Weather Works Shampoo & Conditioner. It helps keep hair frizz free in all weather. (heat, humidity, rain etc.) Then before you head outdoors spray Frederic Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves it will create "tousled" beachy waves which are BTW HOT!!! Plus it has sun protection to help keep your hair safe from UV rays.

Now that your skin is prepped and your hair is protected make sure before you leave to put on Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunblock it has Helioplex in it which helps it deliver very high and very broad UV protection. Oh a one more thing! Throw some Philosophy Face Blotting sheets in your bag for touch ups! Have fun ladies and enjoy!!!

Recession Proof Your Makeup Bag!

CVS...Oh CVS! How I adore you! How I long to spend hours aimlessly walking through your aisles!
Today I'm sharing with you a few things that I LOVE that you can find in your local CVS or many other drugstores! Usually before making a big purchase I debate over it...Do I REALLY need it? or do I just WANT it? It's usually the latter but I seriously don't like spending tons of money on something that's either comparable or exactly the same as something that's less expensive. You'd be surprised how people spend $25 on plain black eyeliner in department stores (your usually paying for the name brand) and I can get basically the same thing in CVS for $1 and I do! A gal in this screwed up economy can surely appreciate a savings like that! So here I'm sharing my secrets to looking fabulous while in a 'recession' (lol!)

~Now I admit I jumped on the Bare Minerals bandwagon and bought the starter kit for $60 (thinking it was a steal!) from Sephora and that came with 3 brushes, 2 foundations, a bronzer, and mineral veil. But I just discovered 24.7 Minerals get started kit from CVS that's comes with the exact same thing as Bare Minerals BUT it's $20 CHEAPER! ($40) So def check that out!

~I know there are DIE HARD T3 fans out there BUUUTT $38 for some hair plumper? That's pretty pricey when you can get a salon-proved product for $13. Enter Nexxus Root Exxtend Volumizing Root Lifter. This stuff works just as hard for less than half the price AND if that wasn't good enough you get more than half MORE! T3 hair plumper is only 4oz. and Nexxus is 8.5 oz. so it'll last you a lot longer!

~Instead of paying $38 to BURN your lips off with Lip Fusion (check out 'Spoiled Pretty's' review of it here) try Sally Hansen's Lip Inflation for $6 you get Angelina Jolie-esqe lips! Plus it has Vitamins A and E to keep them moisturized while you pout!

~What do I know about self tanner? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I've said it before I'm tan all year long, gals. So I have no need for it but I do know I wouldn't spend $30 on it when I can get firm, sun kissed skin for $8! Some girls ( I wont say who!) spend $30 to look like they just came back tanned from St. Tropez why? I couldn't tell ya but I found Nivea Sun-Kissed Firming Moisturizing Lotion that creates a gradual, realistic tan every time you use it AND it has Ginkgo Extract that helps keep your skin tight and firm! Sounds good to me!

~Hello!? Who spends $95 on a hair brush? NOT ME!!! While some women spend $40 and up on fancy hair brushes I'm sticking to whats tried and true...and been around since I was a babe...Goody Hair Products has a line called "Styling Therapy" ($12) which is really cool because they have brushes that add shine and treat dandruff! For dandruff control the cushion/paddle brush contains Copper and ball tipped brushes that massage the scalp and kill 88% of the fungus that causes you to get dandruff! Eeeww! For some shine use the paddle or cushion brush that contains Jojoba oil to add shine, smooth frizzies and fly-a-ways and repair damage to dry hair! Can a $95 hair brush do that!?

~Just remember when your out there looking for a steal just because it's name brand doesn't always mean it's superior. You gotta shop around and see what works for you. I know there are some products that are tried and true and I would never swap them for something else but there are plenty of things you can swap and save from! Get more bang for your buck, gals!

Cover Girl Lash Blast vs. Avon Super Shock

Holy Tammy Faye Bakker! My sister has just found a really great mascara from Avon called "Super Shock" mascara. My sister, Tamara has ABSOLUTELY NO EYE LASHES! I kid you not, darlings. She has used every mascara ever sold on the market and for her nothing has worked as well as this. She says that a few swipes and it looks like she's wearing falsies but only 10x better! I personally am OBSESSED with Cover Girl "Lash Blast" it is the KING of mascara's in my book but when I looked at the "Super Shock" mascara I couldn't help but notice the brush looks very similar to the "Lash Blast". The size is considerably smaller which can be a good thing being that "Lash Blast" is GINORMOUS! It has the same little rubber, flexible brushes on it...I think that might be the secret to these great mascaras! Right now the Avon "Super Shock" mascara is $5 on Avon which is about $3 cheaper that the "Lash Blast" so I think I may even give it a try! Who wins this battle? AVON SUPER SHOCK for price and comparability to more exspensive brands. Just whatever you do DO NOT BUY MAYBELLINE GREAT LASH! It has to be THE WORST mascara ever! Why it keeps winning awards and people keep raving about it I have no idea.
